Marten Baumann
Marten Baumann discovered his passion for working with leather by chance. “I was restoring a motorcycle and wanted to reupholster the seat,” he says. He used the leftover material to create a laptop sleeve. Since then, he has been captivated by the material and the joy of creating stylish products from it: "I love turning a flat material into a three-dimensional product. I love the texture and smell of leather. And I love the challenge that leather doesn't allow for mistakes. When I'm working on a wallet, I always have to think five steps ahead. There's little else that focuses me as much as working with leather. And I like to balance functionality and aesthetics."
Not a day goes by without the full-time HR manager stepping into his studio and picking up his leather, knife, and needle. Through concentrated, elaborate, and traditional craftsmanship, he creates unique wallets, unisex handbags, and key rings. These are highly individual products, each one unique.

“My customers are people who want something unique that expresses their own style,” says Marten Baumann. “They value personality more than a well-known brand.”
For them, a wallet, for example, is a companion and not an accessory. “Because it's not a design piece that you put in a corner – it's something you carry with you,” says the Stäfner native, born in 1983.
At Baumelier—a combination of Baumann and Atelier—individuality is reflected first and foremost in a huge selection of leathers in every color of the rainbow: calfskin, goatskin, cowhide, snakeskin, crocodile skin, ostrich leather, all from sustainable production. And in an equally wide range of designs.
Marten Baumann: “I can adapt one of my standard designs or create something completely new.” However, he always remains true to his principles: Marten Baumann focuses on maximum quality, which ensures maximum durability – and thus sustainability. He uses only the most natural materials possible and wants to give each product his own signature.
Despite all the variety, a Baumelier creation always remains a Baumelier creation.
